Hypnosis:
Hypnosis is an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion: it is a deep state of concentration. Hypnosis is usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction involving a series of preliminary instructions and suggestion. The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as "hypnotherapy", while its use as a form of entertainment for an audience is known as "stage hypnosis". Stage hypnosis is often performed by mentalists practicing the art form of mentalism. The therapist will help the patient focus on goals, such as controlling your pain and reducing your stress. This technique may be helpful for people with cancer who are experiencing anxiety, pain and stress. It may also help prevent anticipatory nausea and vomiting that can occur if chemotherapy has made you sick in the past. Hypnosis is safe when performed by a certified therapist. But the patient should tell the therapist if he has a history of mental illness.
·  Massage involves working and acting on the body with pressure, tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids. A lot of the scientific research on massage therapy is preliminary or conflicting, but much of the evidence points toward beneficial effects on pain and other symptoms associated with a number of different conditions. Massage is used to promote relaxation and well-being, and is beneficial in treating sports injuries and other problems affecting the musculature of the body such as postural misalignment and many painful conditions. During a massage, the practitioner kneads the skin, muscles and tendons in an effort to relieve muscle tension and stress and promote relaxation. Several massage methods exist. Massage can be light and gentle, or it can be deep with more pressure.
Studies have found massage can be helpful in relieving pain in people with cancer. It may also help relieve anxiety, fatigue and stress. Massage can be safe if performed by a massage therapist.
·      Meditation is a practice where an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness; it is a state of deep concentration when the subject focuses his mind on one image, sound or idea, such as a positive thought. When meditating, he might also do deep breathing or relaxation exercises. Meditation may help people with cancer by relieving anxiety and stress. Meditation is generally safe. People can meditate on their own for a few minutes once or twice a day or they can take a class with an instructor.
